I want to start growing strawberries after a bad experience with a garden full of clay, and everything in it dying. I've gone to raised beds and have been experiencing good luck with what I've planted so far this year. Can I get bare root plants and plant them this year, or wait till next spring and plant some.

While most plants it is best to plant in the spring, you can plant them now if you want. They will need more water to help their roots take. If you are worried about your ability to care for them during the summer, then I would wait till the spring, and it will be easier to establish them.
