This bird was found in the road the other night by my horse vet who rescued it from oncoming traffic. It is surprisingly docile and friendly, but we don't know what it is. They were trying to convince me to take it home to live with my 2 rhode island/cross hens but I don't know if that's a good idea. I didn't do it yet since I was worried about disease and if they would accept this new bird. We suspect it may be a quail, but up until today I didn't really know what they were or that they were domesticated.

Any advice/input is appreciated :-) Here's a pic of the cutie, it's about the size of my palm and has a white breast.

LOL I agree!!

Yes, a quail of some sort and a cutie at that! You lucky thing, must be nice having quail jump out at you on the road. Around here they are a fairly rare commodity!

Edit to add: found this pic of a button quail hen on feathersite.com... sure looks like your bird!

Thanks for the replies! Button quail, what a cute name! Do they stay about this size then? Any idea if it's male or female? It doesn't make loud noises, just cute little chirps.
