Stray cat...?

There is a stray cat wondering around our street lately and he or she comes into our yard sometimes and then I chase it away. Should I be more careful about it or do something else? I am afraid that the cat will get into the coop or run when I am not there.
Any advice is appreciated!!!

We have multiple strays around our house. They leave our chickens/chicks alone for the most part. They preffer mice and other smaller/easier prey/food.

Cats in my area harass but don't hurt my hens. But they will and have hurt chicks.

You might try to find out if the cat's owned and if nothing else if it's fixed. Even if it leaves your birds alone, its offspring might not.

Call animal control and have it picked up.
Sometimes rescue groups will trap, neuter and try to rehome them.

As long as my chickens are safe that is all I care about. I will try to find out if the cat has an owner.

I had a big domestic stray cat kill a young rooster last year.
I would much rather see native wildlife than destructive feral cats. That's all I care about.

Seems tooo many peeps here would like to treat stray cats like an enemy. All my cats in my Avatar are feral rescues. They don't bother my chickens. They live outdoors and have a safe garage they can enter for the night. I have them ALL neutered/spayed, and do provide food and water always. They in turn provide my grounds, mouse and rat free environment.
