Stray Dog is a LGD

Quote:
Disagree, specific breeds are LGD. Any breed can be a LIVESTOCK GUARD DOG.

That like saying only beagles can be rabbit dogs, yes they are used for that, but any breed can be a rabbit dog.

For about $70 you can order a "doggy DNA test."

Wow, you are so blessed to have found these dogs. And that's great that you were able to find good homes for the other 6, too. What a neat story!

I absolutely love that puppy's ears. I hope he keeps the little fluff on top, that's really cute!

Great story, thanks for sharing! Best of luck!

Personally, I'm taking my rescue lab mix to the vet tomorrow as he has a cyst on his nack that is now the size of a golfball (maybe a little smaller)....must admit I'm a little nervous; so thanks for sharing, I needed a pick me up!

Good for you for taking them in. In return you have two great dogs!
She is a shepherd mix. Who knows with what or how many breeds the
daddy was.
I have 4 canine protectors. It's wonderful.

No, not just "any breed" can or will scent trail rabbits, and not just any breed will instinctively guard livestock.

Barking at strangers and NOT bothering some animals that live there is not "guardian" behavior
That's territiorial behavior.

If you think "any breed can be a rabbit dog" try hunting them with a Chihuahua, or run a Pomeranian through a brair patch

Not every small chicken is a "Bantam", and not every mutt is a true "LGD"
It doesn't mean they can't be great dogs.

It's more about the proper use of terminology
