Not exactly sure if this is where to post...

I know this one is still too young to tell, but a neighbor that used to own chickens came over and took a look at this little silkie and said "wow look at the streamers on that bad boy" I am definitely not an expert, but I thought streamers didn't come in til later in age. This little one is about 4ish weeks old. I'm trying to familiarize myself with silkies in general as I hope to raise more in the future. So are these streamers or is it just the puff growing in? Thanks!

Following. I've got my first silkies and they too are 4 weeks old and look just like yours!!!!

From what I've heard if they start to grow back they're boys. That's what this looks like. Do you have other silkies the same age or just this one?

Unfortunately, I only have this one... I heard that too. *sigh I still have hope its a little girl!

I have 5 and they don't all look like that. Some look like a rounded bump. But I have no clue if that means anything at all or not. On the bright side, I've heard that even the roosters are quieter and very timid.

Far too young to tell on this little one. It is beardless so one of the tell tale signs of being a rooster, apart from streamers and the larger comb, will be the growth of obvious wattles from about 8 weeks of age. Female beardless silkies do grow wattles as well, but the males grow them earlier and they become much larger.

Ditto.

I'd expect wattles in shortly if it is a male. Those beardless Silkies get them young!
