Stress from showing and driving?

Hi - I'm considering entering a couple of shows this year that are several hours from me - five to at least ten - and I'm wondering if the stress this will put on the birds will be worth it. I did just go to a show four hours away with 4-yr-old one hen, but the ones I'll be taking to the shows farther away are about 6 months to just over a year. They'll be riding in the truck bed, with a blanket and waterproof cover, but even if I make several stops to give them water - which of course lengthens the trip - I don't know how they will handle it. I don't like to drive that far, and I'm in the truck! Then, to plop them in a strange cage in a strange room with a ton of strange birds and noises. How far can you travel before the birds are pushed too far?

I have had birds shipped in to me from a couple breeders across the country. They have traveled for three days most of the time with no problems.I also haul my birds to shows four and five hours several times a year with no problems as well.
