So I rescued 2 beautiful ISA brown girls at the weekend. They're about 3 yrs old, healthy but had slowed egg production so they were for the chop. They're now safe at my place. An absolute delight. I find myself rushing home from work each day to see them.
The smaller of the 2 (Audri Henburn - her friend is Judi Garlhen) is clearly the boss - first at the corn cob, first to explore etc. but I noticed her sneeze a couple of times yesterday afternoon and figured maybe dirt on her face/nose from a day of hard foraging. This morning when I gave them breakfast she was making a purring/growling noise. I'm not sure if this is her warning of danger - the dog was closeby (although there's no real danger there) and I guess she's not used to me yet, maybe she was purring because she's happy, or maybe she's ill. I'm hoping it's one of the first 2, but how do I tell??
