My hen is over 4 years old. She does has been avoiding to put her right leg on the ground. She is not moving much as when she walks she will lift her right leg and will stretch it towards the front as if she was walking on the air in front of her.
She is eating and drinking pretty good.
She was perching yesterday on her favourite ladder, but stayed on the floor for the last 2 nights.
Her foot does not seem hot, and compared to the other I don't see any anomalies. When forced to walk she runs and she gets help from her wings. She can make it to her coop if needed but if it rains, she just stands there. She has been like this this for over a week.
Her step sister died around this time last year and I remember that for her last 2 days, Mar was doing the same with her leg. Pluma was sick this summer, we thought she got heat stroke. Since then she has been OK, always a bit slower than the others until now. Is this an end of life sign?

Screenshot_2017-09-11-20-01-26.png Yes it does, also, I noticed that she does not curl the toes around my hand when I hold her.
The other leg, curls the toes a bit, but now with the strength that she used to have.
I am not sure what breed the is, they told me she was a Mexican chicken that laid blue eggs.

Check her over for lice/mites. Maybe it's the angle of the photo, but one leg looks larger than the other -possibly some raised scales (scaly leg mite). What do the bottom of the feet look like and when was the last time she laid an egg?

She might be an Easter Egger...they can lay blue eggs.
I'm not sure they are considered Mexican though...they are basically a mixed breed.

(Not quite Mexican but these are Spanish:Araucana - Wikipedia)

Thank you for the reply. Yes the RHS leg is the one that she keeps lifting, but they both appear similar to me. I have inspected the feet and I have not seen any bugs. I will treat for scaly leg today. I have read to apply vaseline. I also ready to put alcohol first?
She last layed a few months ago.
Her sister (same breed) stopped laying around the same time. But I expected that as they are already 4 years old.

I wouldn't put alcohol on the legs - that may burn.

The best way to treat scaly leg mites is to wash the legs in warm soapy water, give them a gentle scrub to help remove any debris and soften the scales. Dry the legs, then apply your ointment/oil of choice - vaseline, cooking spray, coconut oil, A+D ointment, castor oil, etc. Re-apply the oil everyday. You may want to re-wash and soak the legs every few days as well.

Fantastic. I will do that. She will have the softest feet in the coop!
