I'm facing the same problem this very moment! She's so scared poor baby I've got her in a towel and I'm going to try to get it off but it's wrapped around the tongue pretty tight. I ran in as soon as I heard her squawking but I'm not sure if I can help her. What happens if I don't get this thing off??
Asking for nightmare fuel I'm not going to check this again until it's off

Find a pair of hair trimming scissors with a small point and try to slip it under the string or hair. Even if you accidentally nick the tongue, you will save a life. Good luck.
