Hi my hen has had stringy poop for a few weeks it seems. Finally figured out which one has this issue, but there doesn’t seem to be anything else wrong with her. Is there something I should do?
Welcome to BYC. It looks like fiber in the dropping. How old is your chicken? What are you feeding, and do you put some granite poultry grit out so your chickens can take some it they need it?
Hi she’s about a year and a half. Eats organic lay feed and whatever grass she gets outside in addition to insects and dirt/rocks
I’ve never given them granite? Just what they get from the soil.
I also wanted to ask if I’m feeding properly. I give my chickens unlimited organic lay crumbles, and every day they get people food, including any of these: blueberries, corn (Frequently), pasta, sunflower seeds, Rice, popped corn
Is any of this bad to give too much of? They get treats a couple times a day.
Just pust some grit in a pan, and let them take what they need. Limit the diet to 90% chicken feed, and occasionally give them a small treat. They love popcorn, rice, and pasta, but they do not need that. Limit fruit as well. When you give snacks, it waters down the good things in their balanced feed, including protein and vitamins.
