I have a bunch of baby chickens who are about 3 weeks old now and I have noticed that a few of them (2 main perpetrators who I think are cockerels) are puffing up very big and flapping their wings at the others. I have lots of Black Stars and 2 goldies of questionable descent. One of the Goldies (a.k.a. Father Flannagan) is one of the perps and he struts around doing this pretty often. Another one is one of the Black Stars who has a golden face for markings who we call "Johnny Cash."
I'm assuming this is normal behavior and they are just demonstrating that they're little baby males right? Do the females do this too? Just curious... Thanks!
