Stubborn Fiancee says I don't need more ventilation.

I am directing this to your fiancée. Man to man we both know that she is going to win and we both know that she is right. It is like you living in a microwave. Heat comes in and is not made to come out. Do yourself a favour and do what she says...if she wants two windows give her two windows it is as simple as that.

Florida "coops" and their tropicabana turnout paddocks...There are also fans inside the coops that are turned on around 10:00 am and off around 10:00 pm. So sad to lose birds to heat when it's so easy to prevent it.

And a Florida double decker coop with chicks above and a few underneath...

Not to hijack the post...purchased at Big Lots for $9.00 ($5.00 at the end of summer!). They come with the top and bottom poles separated so you just pound the bottom pole into the ground using a piece of wood to avoid mashing it. Slide the top of the umbrella in and clamp it at the height you wish. Gives great shade outside.

Wind, rain, snow or sleet won't hurt them. I know this because I got the idea from Bat Cave Silkies in North Carolina and hers are out year round. She said she hasn't had to replace one yet.

Ask your fiance if he likes his chickens fried or baked. I would think leaving it like that is the same as locking a dog in a car in the FLA heat with the windows up. Sure DEATH.
I hope you are making him sit down and read all of these responses, because that is what I would make my man do !

3 cedars I laughed out loud, literally when I saw the umbrellas !!! LOVE THEM !!!

From your first posting with the pictures, it does look like there is a thermometer in there and if I read it correctly, the temp was 107 degrees inside.

Is that correct?

If so, what does he think the temperature inside will be when we really get hot this summer?
