Hi BYC,
One of my Polish gals got a prolapse a month or so ago, and as expected, she’s ended up with another. The last one took about three days to hold, but this time we’re on day five of inverted chicken bum, and it just isn’t wanting to stay in. It seems like it’s not improving at all, and the stinker isn’t nearly as easy to get in. You have to work to get it
reverted.
I’ve done a basic protocol of raw honey to moisten and lubricate it, and I’ve just started putting on some Prep H to see if that helps. She’s separated from the rest of the flock. I’ve also tried soaking the prolapse but that didn‘t seem to help much.
She’s a little over a year old, and eats all flock pellets with oyster shell on the side.
Any ideas?

Another option that wouldn't conflict with vetricyn is adding turmeric, with cracked pepper and coconut oil as a paste. It's a powerful anti inflammatory. It's a thick enough paste I would feed a teaspoon amount before bed for three to four days. It has a blood thinning effect.

Are you soaking her in warm Epsom salts water or soapy water each day? That can help with healing. Some use hydrocortisone cream to help reduce swelling, but it can take awhile for some to stay in. Each time she prolapses, there can be damage to the cloaca. I would give her a human calcium tablet with vitamin D3 daily for a few days. Layer feed might be better for her if she is prolapsing due to not enough calcium.
