No, it wouldn't be awful. A little warm water should help get it off. I believe it's better to remove egg pieces and membrane from the chicks while they are still moist/damp then to wait until they are dried and the stuff is glued on making it that much harder to get off and having to re wet them. There are people that disagree, but that's ok...lolSo usually I would just leave it alone and let it dry off, but it is stuck to the chick's leg making it hard for her to walk. Would it be awful if I gently tried to remove it?

Yes, that is unabsorbed yolk and egg goo. The good thing is is it's a rather small amount so it should absorb it fairly well, the bad news is it could get ruptured before that happens, and that's never a good thing, usually resulting in death. I would definitely confine him and hope that he absorbs it quickly w/no problem. once that's absorbed you can deal with the other left overs.
