@nicalandia If I crossed a Silkie cock with say Black Ameraucana hens who have white skin but slate legs would the chicks still be sex links?

No sex link there, because both the Silkies and Ameraucanas have sex linked recessive id+ which enhances and contribute to dermal expression, so the result of such cross will be that both sexes will have black skin due to autosomal Fibromelanosis.@nicalandia If I crossed a Silkie cock with say Black Ameraucana hens who have white skin but slate legs would the chicks still be sex links?
Thank you!No sex link there, because both the Silkies and Ameraucanas have sex linked recessive id+ which enhances and contribute to dermal expression, so the result of such cross will be that both sexes will have black skin due to autosomal Fibromelanosis.
Now if you cross a Silkie/Cemani rooster to a hen with yellow/white shanks, that will be a true sex link as the pullets will be id+ and cockerels will be Id/id+ and a single dose of Id will inhibit the melanin expression of Fibromelanotic.
Your blue Silkies are heterozygous for the eb partridge e allele. They are E/eb which can look identical to E/E but when crossed to e+ will produce chipmunk stripped chicksMy blue silkie crossed with my Millie fleur duccle has had 5 chicks so far together.
The two females were born dark (blue and black) and the three boys were chickmunk. Feathered out the boys have lots of color and the girls are solid. Coincidence?
