Stupid breeding question - Orpingtons

The Splash is crow-headed & very pinched in the tail. The Black looks pretty good. There's no way I'd consider using the Splash for breeding but I would be willing to use him for soup.

I'm actually happy to hear from a point of view such as Tuffoldhen's. Not because I like being wrong, but because that sort of thing teaches me more. Why, exactly, are you more impressed with the splash? I want to clarify that the splash is not mean or human aggressive, at least any more than the other was at the same age. He's been dealt with at the very first sign of human aggression and if anything, is terrified of humans. (No, I wasn't abusive. I just held him down once. That's all it took.) It's not something I can put into words. I just didn't like him that much. He probably would make a better roo for the flock though. Something I'll never know for sure I guess. He's currently very happy with another flock that accepted him as the alpha roo from the get go, something he would have had to work at for a very long time here. In fact, something that the black is still striving for among the older girls.

But anyway, why are you more impressed with the splash?

I just like the looks/build of the Splash better than the Black but that's my point of view. I don't care for the tail on the Black. I would breed with both and pick from there.

I can see where you're coming from. They are both Orps but really very different types of Orps. Which sort of is the root of my quandary and why I still question my decision.
