Stupid Idea- Unless.....? bonnet for quail?

Well... their generations go by pretty quickly. Unless gentleness is somehow associated with an undesirable trait, it might be worthwhile. It’s one of my goals with my chickens, but alas I have yet to see any of the cockbirds dancing for the ladies. The whole scalping thing is a negative for me in my good/bad list for maybe getting into quail. Still debating... 🤷‍♀️

I totally understand your point but remember they heal so quickly. As long as i keep the males from overcrowding then were cool here but i always have blu kote on hand just in case.

Love the blu kote! 😀 Good stuff. I’m probably going to build a beehive and/or swarm trap first... then maybe some quail cages. Partly I’m vacillating because I have so many birds already. Lots of eggs, lots of meat, only boughten honey.

I love the idea of keeping bees. I have two fairly major obstacle in my way of that one though. 1 - I live inside city limits, and I'm pretty sure there are rules against it. 2 - I'm not suicidal.

It’s odd, but I have tried separating them and he goes bonkers, calling for the other two and rampaging around the extra hutch I move him to. The other two become very agitated as well, calling and pacing the cage

So this setup is two coturnix hens with one roo? What you were thinking with the bonnet thing is like the chicken saddles protect her from the males affections as she is his go to gal? Could you seperate them where they can still see eachother? Im on board with the other answers get more hens.
