Subduing unwilling quail

I just make it a point to scrub the wires daily. Got a scrubber with a handle. Should make it easier. Also, I was thinking maybe in their enclosed space, when they dig up the newspaper and scratch around the pine shavings, maybe they get hurt on the part where two wires meet. I covered with newspaper, but they just shredded it. So I put a silicone utility mat down. Then cover it with paper and bedding. Hopefully that solves the issue.
And now I have bumblefoot showing up in my jumbos as well! Standards don't seem to have any trouble.

I think the jumbos are just too big to be on wire without getting injuries that infect, so I'm thinking about whether to come up with a pen on the on the ground for the big ones or just keep standards.

How are yours doing?

I covered the part where two wires meet with a thick plastic liner. I think the problem was that they pulled up the newspaper (they like to pick at it) and that exposed the one area where the wires met. I haven't had any new cases and one of the birds is completely healed. The other seems to be improving, but hers was really bad, so I think she just needs more TLC.
