I will be cleaning up some bumblefoot on two of my girls this weekend. One thing I'd like help on. There are expensive duck booties online that are about 20 dollars. Some of them take 4-6 weeks to arrive. There must be a good substitute to help keep the foot clean and dry after it's wrapped with vet wrap. Does anyone have a suggestions?

My girls live in a raised wood floor duck run. I have removed their tub until the healing is finished, but they are still always pooping in there!

Someone better than me should answer but I would think the vet wrap would be better. Bootie congers up a vision of no airflow for me. Is the bumble open? My vet said if it isn't open just treat the duck as normal. My girl was on antibiotics.

I bought those booties but couldn’t use them until the bumble hole was closed. I did like @casportpony did until the opening closed then used the bootie till swelling was gone.

Thanks everyone. I did not think of duct tape. That does seem like it would be good for the last layer. Thanks for the demo Casportpony. I think it most likely will be open Magnolia ducks, after I debride it.

My duck was on antibiotics also but I still had to open it up and get the bumble out it was a hard kernel. Once I got that out and finished the antibiotic the foot was healing but from all I have read about bumble that kernel has to come out before healing can begin.

Ok, I did one of my girls. There was a classic scab and 'plug' but no kernel(s). I'm hoping that cleaning it up and flushing it and antibiotic ointment will do the job. On closer look the other girl is inflamed but not scabbing yet, so i'm just going to soak her daily and apply povidine and hope it either scabs over or heals.
