Success stories - horses dogs whatever

Okay, it has been over ten years since I had my last horse, a beautiful black Paso Fino gelding.

I've seen him waaaaaay back when he was a yearling, coming up two year old. The owner brought him out, show him on the lines with his fino fino gait. Goreous horse but he was a stallion. Wasn't for sale at that time. Bought a young green broke Paso filly which she went on to be the perfect trail horse and sold to WindSong Farms up in MN, then to Blueberry Farm which she was shown in Pleasure classes and did well. Retired as a broodmare. In hindsight of all this, I should have kept her.

I had bought four Pasos from him, all with good results and quite pleased with all of them.

Then I had my last Paso, with phone calls, and written letters back and forth (computer wasn't available to me at that time), he said he has only one horse for sale, which was the black yearling I saw at my first visit on the farm. I thought why not, I would love to use him as a trail horse, as his daughter rides him alot on the trails. He did mentioned that he needed a bit of TLC because he was picked on by his broodmares, fighting with him and I figured he must have been low on the totem pole and could not get along with them because he was gelded late as a four year old, his two sons, only foals he produced, was a major disappointment for his owners, and they gelded him and his two sons.

He brought him out to my boarded stable when I was at work. I thought everything was fine and will see him as soon I get off work.

Oh boy, did I ever get an earful from the boarding farm owner, he told me what the F this guy did with the horse??? I thought what???!!!!!! He showed me the horse and I was morified and shocked! OMG! I was livid! Just so angry! I thought the owner would have cared for him like he did with the other four horses I bought for him in excellent flesh and condition! Oh man, Danino or Danni (as in Yanni), was in level one, so boney and not in good flesh but his hooves were in very good shape. I was MAD, it is going to take me a good year to get him back to the proper condition so I was not able to ride him that summer. It was a long recovery and I moved him to another boarding stable with an arena, we rode together but he did not like to fino fino. He can do other gaits but he hated the fino when asked, he would literally blow up and rear. I figured with all those shows he was in his first two years of showing, he probably was "soured". So I never asked him to fino fino again, and go performance gaited without any restriction except to collect himself. If he gets himself too loose, he would "trocha" or get sloppy with his gaits. Other than that, he was a very good horse. I was sad to see him go, I had to make a choice rather I keep him, walk to work, not having a car OR get myself a truck and sell him so I don't go broke trying to pay for the truck payments OR boarding fees. So the choice was made, I sold him.

I never had to deal with a very starved horse but this one took the cake and the trust I had for that owner/breeder was gone. I never made any contacts with him with one letter he sent to me asking about Danni, how is he doing? Sorry, you have really let me down and I will never buy another horse from you was my thoughts. So it has been a very long time and I have not heard from him after a couple of years, he was not breeding anymore. I don't know if he got out of it or not. he did have some goreous mares but they were pretty much way out of my money limit and what I am looking for a trail horse, many of them were not broke to ride, only broodmares.
