Niacin is good for the nervous system as well as duck leg strength. It mellows people out, brings the sense of humor and laughing, instead of hypervigilance. Back in the thirties, the good old country doctors would tell their patients a joke. If the patient didn't laugh, they prescribed niacin. Niacin deficiency was a big problem back then in the South and led to a lot of nervousness and depression in people. In the South then people ate more corn than wheat, and researchers tracked it to not enough niacin in the diet from wheat - corn doesn't have enough if its the main calorie source.
