Such thing as honest business deal anymore?

I think we can agree seller is responsible for what they promise, regardless of circumstances. Other than fulfilling promises, the rest is untruths (better known as lies).

Swap meets are great place to see this in action. I've heard all kinds of lies.......

Oh yes, those are pullets (immature cockerals).
They are from a certain breeder. (Even if they came from 2 birds that came from breeder, they are not that breeders birds. being from 2 birds from a breeder is different than from the breeder.)
Of course, they are last year's hatch. (rooster has long spurs).
They are show quality. Obvious flaws that are disqualifications.

Buyer beware. Why I only buy cheap at swap meets. If I'm paying good $$, I'm buying from the breeder not second hand stories.

To answer your question: No, there is not such a thing. Or, best to assume not.

Finding an honest businessperson is like finding a unicorn in a cathouse.

Just to clarify...I don't think this person is a BYC member. Everyone I've ever dealt with on BYC has been very honest, forthcoming, and helpful.

Also, our deal was very specific. The pig was to be registered. That's what I bought and paid for, and it is clearly stated in emails and on the invoice.

I haven't heard anything yet, but I will update once I figure out what is going on.

Thanks, everyone, for letting me vent. And, thanks for the advice.

Heeeeyyyyy now! Hubby and I own a business (printing & copies). We also sell online and each have 100% ratings through ebay over a 5 year period. My husband is so honest, he found $300 CASH in a super market parking lot and reported it to the store, said if the person losing it could identify the amount to contact us. We heard from the rightful owner the next day and returned the cash. She tried to give us some cash and we turned it down (and this was at a time our money was very tight). He even got a write up in the local paper for it...LOL

I must say though, that the more dishonest other people are, the better we look. Sad to say that schmucks are good for my business

Yep, I agree. I hired a so called boy friend to build a new deck and re-roof my house. He took the money and did not complete the job. I took him to small claims on Monday to sue for the cost to finish the job. The judge told him he has to give me the entire amount back. VICTORY for me!!!
Ill probably never see a dime.
Moral, even friends and loves seem to be out for whatever they can get from ya....

This is true. I'm trying to find a contractor to work on my house (again) after the most recent one didn't show up for work. I found two who are honest, one of which said, "Honestly, the way I would want to do this job, you can't afford it. Sorry." This is after interviewing about 20. Some of them told me to my face that they would use illegal workers to make the cost cheaper. A couple promised to start on a given day, then never showed up, then were unreachable by phone or email and pretty much dropped off the face of the earth.

I keep hoping the economy will make it so people will be glad to get the work, but it doesn't seem like happening, you know?

Seedcorn is right on registration. Most breeders donʻt want to pay the minimal amount involved to register their litters but instead either give you the animal with a partially filled out form or promise to get it to you later. Their excuse is either a) they thought youʻd want the registration in YOUR name or b) they wonʻt register until you neuter the animal. I bought a pure bred, show quality kitten once, neutered it as my sales agreement required and ten years later Iʻm still waiting for its papers!

In my case also, the buyer took over six months to pay off the last payment and took the dog out of state and was incommunicado for quite a while because she owed on the dog. Like I said, it is not always the seller that is totally to blame, and like I said, I learned a LOT of lessons on that one transaction.
