Sudden Chick Deaths 2 night in a row

All in the tub - including Seramas. They were getting too wArm under their house, so I took it out.
I don't think they were getting so very cold at all. When I went to get them out of the barn, they were almost asleep, and all of them were warm. My I'm-not-sure-how-old serama pullet can fit the two smaller serama pullets under her, as well as about 5 chicks. The rest squeeze into the huddle created by my I'm-not-sure-how-old serama cockerel and the pullet. Some of the chicks even scoot under HIM!
Going to give them pasty butt baths after breakfast. (I have also been checking throughout the night - it's now 2:14 am, and all is well :) )

ld prefer a non-light emitting heat source as well. I don't think chicks should have a light on them all the time...
But one of my hens is trying to go broody...! I may be able to pass a few off on her. They would be wilder, but they would also be the healthiest. Now to find Corid...
 
Ten chicks, thank you for the advice. I think the truly ironic thing Is that the one who is out first, and hardest to get back in has the least serious case of pasty butt... But I will try to give them more space for a little while instead of letting them scratch. And yes, they do really like oatmealy starter. For now I will try to locate Corid, and keep them warm, and try not to lose another... :/
 
My guess is that you have made it past the hardest part.

I had a tom turkey that came with a batch of chicks, I left him in with three silkies and a Houdan that came in the same batch. I would find the three silkies nestled in under the tom.

I got a EcoGlow20 and a Sweeter Heater this spring for all my chicks. I'm SOO happy with them--I'll never use a light again.
 
All of them are still alive! Some of them are doing so well, they were put back in the barn so everyone would have more space. The ones that I am keeping an eye on are still in the tub, there's 8 of them. In with my two bigger Seramas, (boy and girl) who both let the little ones tuck under their wings for a nap! They have had some yogurt with oatmealy feed, and some Braggs apple cider vinegar diluted in water. My smallest, Ashley (hoping a girl, but I won't get rid of it if it is a boy) was the one I was most worried about. I hadn't seen her poop or drink for a few hours and she was standing, chirping with her eyes closed straining to poop. So I took drastic measures and gave her an enema. Later she pooped, and is now acting much more like a chick! She still looks a little constipated, and I don't think we're out of the woods yet, but at least I have more hope!
 
I just read the sticky about coccidiosis and my chicks are eating like there is no tomorrow. Does this mean it may not be coccidiosis?
I have also seen most of them poop! :D :D still inside, just to male sure.
