Sudden death in hen

The only other thing is her back feathers were a little ruffled, like the white ones under her gold ones were starting to show. I just thought she was molting. A few of my other 1 year old hens look that way too. I checked their vents, crops and skin and they're fine. I assume they wouldn't eat a poisonous mushroom but I just found one that could be (white gills) that's been pecked at. I think it's from today though. Thank you for your help.

Thank you I will check that out. I found her laying lifeless in the rain and all she did was blink and gagged a little when picked up for a few minutes then nothing. Could an impacted crop somehow cause bloody tissue in her vent like I found? Could an impacted crop kill them that quickly? I put a lot of straw out today for the first time in a long time and they went ham in it. I even believe she ate some scratch I threw out today but I'm not positive.

I lost two Isa Brown to sudden death. My first one was fine that morning.she always followed me around when i was in the runs or seek me out in the coops. she was a year old.I found her dead in the run.she must have died right after i left As she was in the same run i had given her some mealworms in that morning.I lost my other Isa Brown 6 weeks ago.Went to roost .the next morning she was laying on her back in the coop floor.she had not been dead long. When i picked her up she was still warm.I spend a hour in the mornings watering, feeding and watching my little flock. After i get home from work.I am at the coop to let my girls out for some supervised free range.I watch them and I know when i have a hen that's not feeling well.I have one Isa Brown left.I am now treating her for vent gleet.I got them at tractor supply in 2015.I am sorry for your loss.It hits me hard when i lose one of my girls.

So sad :( I'm sorry. Did you notice anything wrong with their vents after they passed?
