Howdy yal.
I just went outside to check on my birds, and I found one of my silkies dead. Ugg!!! I’m seriously so confused/irritated! This is my second silkie to die this year. She wasn’t even a year old. Luckily, I’m not really attached to this bird, but it sure is a bummer, since she’s my best broody:hit:hit
This gal has show NO signs of being sick!! She is always alert, has enough feed&water, and has perfectly normal poop. I’m positive it wasn’t a predator, ‘cause she has no blood or scratches on her. Yal, I’m honestly tired of the silkie breed. I love mine to death, but they never seem to make it through the first year! I have a flock of Sex Links and Wyandottes that are approaching their 2nd year, and they are so happy, healthy, and alive!
What do y’all think about this?

Have you thought of sending the body for a necropsy?
I'm sorry to hear about your hen, I can't really think of anything. If you still have the body, I would take KiKi's advice and send it in for a necrospsy, sorry for your loss.
@4 Georgia Hens or do it yourself and post a thread with the pictures. I've done it; it's not that hard to do and the folks here are very helpful at working to diagnose the problem.
The only reason I suggest doing it yourself is because it usually is very expensive to send it in when the procedure is rather simple.
