Today we had a Brahma hen die suddenly. She was fine and then she put her head resting on the wire and then she was just unconscious and died. The only things were that her head seemed a bit paler or maybe swollen? Also she seemed to breathe hard when you picked her up? But she was a plump hen.
She seemed fine this morning and died just after sunset :(

Sometimes it can happen for a number of reasons, most common being a heart attack or something else internally wrong. I’m sorry for your loss 😔 💔

I had the same thing happen to my beloved Black Copper Maran roo a while back... He looked fine the day before but the next morning he didn't want to come out of the coop so I isolated him in my dad's workshop. His breathing seemed off and his comb was swollen much like yours. He passed away that day, just slipped off his little temporary perch that he was sitting on, and died. I believe it was shock, but he was never attacked by anything - so I'm just not sure. I'm really sorry for your loss, I know how you feel💜
😕💙

So sorry. As hard as it is I consider it a blessing when they go quickly. The only downside is not knowing if you could have done something. In you case likely not.

I lost one overnight Fri/Sat. She was not a very interactive hen with us. I had been inspecting them a month ago and when I picked her up I noticed she was holding water.
We drained her so she would be more comfortable but knew it was a matter of time.
She lived her best chicken life and died quickly in her sleep. It was just random chance that I discovered she had a problem. They are good at hiding illnesses and health problems.

Your chicken also had a good chicken life and people who cared about her and will miss her.
