I recently purchased 3 baby bantam chicks from a local and trusted petstore. I've had them for about 2 days now and they were doing just fine. Well today while I was not there to witness it my sister saw one of them laying with his head by the water (dead I think). She then noticed her baby chicken would not stand up and when she picked it up and placed it down it fell back down. She witnesses it have some sort of spasms before he died. Now there is one left and from what I've heard of the symptoms before the prior one died. The last one has started. He won't stand up, and seems weaker than before. While I don't know if saving him is possible, as responses will be slow, I would like to know what could've happened to kill all three of them. I've raised baby chickens of the same breed before, its puzzling. They were eating grass that might've been sprayed with flea repellent or something of sort when let out, could that be it?
Any help is appreciated.....

At two days old, i would not be letting them eat grass. Especially if there is a chance it could have pesticides on it. Also if chicks eat grass, they must have grit, to help them digest it. Other than That I am not sure what could have been done to keep them alive. Sorry for your loss.

Thank you very much for the advice. I would like to update and say that while the first two chicks died, the third one managed to pull through and now seems to be back to normal:). but another problem has arisen:(. I purchased 4 more (I was told they were bantams) chicks in order to keep that one company and there is one chick that seems to be bullying the original 1 (it seems to follow him and poke him). I'm thinking it might be of a different type of bantam or even chicken as it has a few feathers a long its feet/legs. Also the original chick now seems like the runt of the flock as the others are considerably larger:/. I don't know if I should just separate them and which ones, as I don't want to wake up with the original survivor chick dead, or simply regard it as a situation they must outgrow?? I would also like to add in after the previous incident from yesterday, we held him a considerable amount of time, while we thought he'd pass. before then he was a quiet almost serious chick, afterwards he became extremely attached to me and basically any human. could this be part of it? He now chirps constantly until a person comes in to see him or holds him< its gotten to the point where he hops on your hands quickly if you extend it to him< and then he'll cuddle with you. While this quality is one I like about him, I hope its not what sets him as an outcast from the rest of the flock. Thanks for any advice on my new problem (and all the advice on the previous)..
