Sudden lame leg in 9 month old chick (negative for bumble foot)

4 days ago we found 1 of our new chicks limping in their excluded run. There appears to be no injury that we could find and we have checked for bumblefoot and that does not appear to be the problem. Having experienced bumblefoot only once before I certainly don’t consider myself an expert, but I cannot see anything amiss with her foot. It is non responsive and limp to the touch. She was immediately brought into a secluded pen when we found her limping and has been eating and drinking. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to BYC. Was she vaccinated dor Mareks disease? It is possible that she has suffered an injury causing nerve damage, but Mareks disease can cause this as well. I really hope it is not that. Vitamins with riboflavin (B2) could be helpful, in case of a deficiency. I would place it in a dog crate or basket near food or water. A chicken sling with the chicken hanging taking pressure off the leg would be helpful, if she will tolerate it. Here is a good link with picture s of homemade slings:

Great ideas for the slings. She has been in her own space close to water and food and is eating and drinking normally. She has not been vaccinated. We will be on the look out for additional symptoms.
