Sudden move north in winter

Contact your local Agricultural Extension Office. Their 4H handles poultry testing for 4H youth. If they can't do it for you, they will know who can.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Your suggestion of the 4H Ag office led me to the University of Florida Veterinary school website! The ag site suggested the link. I will call them tomorrow and see if they know how to get testing done and how much it might cost. At least I now have a source to start with!:celebrate

You're very welcome! It's always good to have a direction to start out in ... even if you have to change it a thousand times, at least you've begun the journey!

Whew, tough situation!
Thank goodness your job will transfer and you'll get to be with your dad.

I'd agree with not adding 'moving the birds' to your plate
But sounds like you are very good at thinking things out and have already done the work to find the bird info you'll need if you do decide to take them. The actual drive with however many birds could be real challenge...controlling temps, ventilation, and odor control are the main things that come to mind.

Gratuitous memory share....We moved from FL back to MI in August(long ago) thinking good timing for the temp change, with an infant and one dodgy vehicle hauling another vehicle, it was the coldest August in MI in years...SMH. It was an adventure to be sure.
Best of Luck with it all. :hugs

Oohhh! Good point, I didn’t think about ventilation. I was thinking to put them in dog crates in my SUV towed behind the truck. Probably not a good idea with no ac.

I finally got an answer about CVI certificates. Turns out it’s vary expensive, not for the tests, but because each chicken has to have a physical.
I will contact a coworker friend who said she could take them if needed. My sister in-law also offered to help find them a home. Thank you everyone for you help!

I’m so sorry to hear that! I know how much it hurts to lose them!
I just hope I can find a poultry vet for mine or I’ll be doing the same.:barnie:hit

Do you need the poultry vet for South FL or up north? If in Florida, I have a great one - I can give you the number (I'm in Dade County, but this vet will travel I think up to Palm Beach County.)

Thank you.
I did find the info I was looking for. Unfortunately I can’t justify how much it will cost and the stress of travel ect.
I am going to find a new home for them. Vary sad to see them go. :hit

Some of the best decisions are the hardest...leaving them is probably best when looking at the big picture...there will be more chicken in your future.
