i went to go close up the chickens for the night and discovered my one hen sprawled on the floor, wing out legs out, all stretched. She looked dead except she was holding her head up and was blinking her eyes. I moved her around a little and her muscles are really stiff, I would've had to force the legs back into place, needless to say she can't walk. She was fine this morning, like perfectly fine, no problems at all. I feed gamebird crumbles, and i did have an issue with some kind of virus like 4 months ago, but after that everythings been fine, and i'v been watching them wikid close. she's been laying everyday, including this morning. I was thinking mareks, but not this quickly attacking? Also her crop is really full, is paralysis symptomatic of sour crop? Whats going on?

scratch that. did a little more digging, checked her out again, pretty sure it actually is impacted crop! didn't think i'd ever be happy about that... but its better than an infectious disease. taking care of it with oil hopefully.

I have never read about paralysis with an impacted crop. I hope that is all it is, and that it isn't Mareks. That would have been my first guess as well, and from my experience it can come on suddenly like that as the tumors can grow internally and then affect a nerve, that is why they get paralyzed.

Please keep us posted. I hope the oil thing works and that she is back to her old self soon.
