Sudden red/blood eyeballs?!!!

I would suspect there is some type of hemorrhage taking place in her eyes or brain. How is she acting? Is she walking okay or eating and drinking? I have had a couple of dogs who suffered bleeds in the back of an eye, and they did not make it. A vet would definitely be helpful here, since I am just a chicken owner, and not an expert. Just a hunch, but is there any chance of getting into rat poison?

no chance of poison. 💔 she was acting fine but when the sun started to go down I noticed she was staying close to some other flock mates. She just walked into the run wall and cried out and took off in the other direction so there is some sight loss I’m sure. Oh my.... 😭😭😭

Last birds were introduced about a week ago. I had them in quarantine for a few weeks in my garage them moved them out to the coop in a kennel and they stayed in there for about a week and just this past weekend I opened the crate and let them mingle together...

Where did these birds come from?

I am sorry that you are dealing with such a surprise with this chicken. I haven’t seen any similar posts about chickens with red eyes before on BYC. There is obviously a reason for it, and you will eventually get to the bottom of it. It might be best if you separate her into a dog crate with food and water, and keep her near the other chickens for comfort. You may need to offer her food and water often, just in case she cannot see. If you should lose her, and I hope not, I would try to get a necropsy (autopsy) by your state vet.

Just went out to close up the coop... here is her eyes now.... the eye half covered with the red was the same eye COMPLETELY covered just an hour ago!! Explain this non sense!! And the opposite eye that was starting to cover, no red can be seen now.
