Sudden red/blood eyeballs?!!!

Now the right eye, even though it doesn’t have red in it as it did before, looks like there is a cataract in her pupil from the slight cloudiness. The left eye looks like blood has settled in the bottom of the eye. I can’t say for sure what is going on, but a vet in the morning might help.

What do you feed and what kind of additives, vitamins etc. do you give them?

Edit: And take a look inside her beak and throat if you can detect any bleeding.

They are still on flock raiser. Has been the same since they came home at about 4 days old. No vitamins. They did munch on some corn cobs yesterday. No other vitamins. They “free range” in the run. They have access to dirt sand and grass all day. It’s just bizarre that the entire iris/pupil was red and now it’s half the eye?? To my knowledge she hasn’t fallen. The last photos were of her on one of the taller roosts. She could have been pecked but I don’t see any “wounds”.

Chickens have a very fast metabolism which allows for bruises and injuries to heal quick or in this case the blood to be absorbed much faster than in humans.

So just an update. Butterscotch still has one eye that switches from fully red to crescent moon at the bottom. I literally have no idea what could be causing this. I can’t find any other symptoms. I do work full time and have small children so I can’t watch her 24/7 or even close until the weekend. Here’s a shot of her eyes last night. The clear eye is pretty clear and the bad eye had the crescent moon blood spot.
