What's the temperature where you are???

We get them a couple times a year, during the day, and the dogs go nuts. We get the dogs in the house. The bear usually leave then. Otherwise we have had to shoot a shotgun in the air to scare them away.

I was hiking on the Appalachian Trail once and some hikers used ground bloom flowers to scare off two bears who were hanging around the shelter. It worked but I never did find out why they were carrying ground bloom flowers with them. 🤔 For bears, I guess? It was certainly unique.

I looked to see what those were and cracked up laughing. Yup, those would do the trick! :gig

0C feels like -13 (32 / 9F). Wind mid 20s gusting mid 30s, about 5mph less by tonight. Expecting more snow on & off all day.

@Ponypoor and others in similarly snowy places might be amused to hear that everyone is losing their minds here over maybe half a foot of the white stuff. We so rarely get proper snow that when we do, everything comes to a complete standstill.

I did imagine Orkney to be snowy and cold, but now I think about it, it's probably Coastal Weather, isn't it? aka wet and windy. Do you get freezing rain and slippery roads?
