I'd rather live with them all, than live near or in the city!

I was hiking on the Appalachian Trail once and some hikers used ground bloom flowers to scare off two bears who were hanging around the shelter. It worked but I never did find out why they were carrying ground bloom flowers with them.We get them a couple times a year, during the day, and the dogs go nuts. We get the dogs in the house. The bear usually leave then. Otherwise we have had to shoot a shotgun in the air to scare them away.

I looked to see what those were and cracked up laughing. Yup, those would do the trick!I was hiking on the Appalachian Trail once and some hikers used ground bloom flowers to scare off two bears who were hanging around the shelter. I did imagine Orkney to be snowy and cold, but now I think about it, it's probably Coastal Weather, isn't it? aka wet and windy. Do you get freezing rain and slippery roads?0C feels like -13 (32 / 9F). Wind mid 20s gusting mid 30s, about 5mph less by tonight. Expecting more snow on & off all day.
@Ponypoor and others in similarly snowy places might be amused to hear that everyone is losing their minds here over maybe half a foot of the white stuff. We so rarely get proper snow that when we do, everything comes to a complete standstill.
