Officially I live in a City - but this City covers an area of 12,625KM - (4,872sq ml) and has a population of 42,500 est
So not real big and dense.
Would rather live a bit further out on a bit more land, but hubby is not being co-operative.

Right now it's about 45 degrees and raining. Man, I wish it would just snow already!

We get them a couple times a year, during the day, and the dogs go nuts. We get the dogs in the house. The bear usually leave then. Otherwise we have had to shoot a shotgun in the air to scare them away.

I was hiking on the Appalachian Trail once and some hikers used ground bloom flowers to scare off two bears who were hanging around the shelter. It worked but I never did find out why they were carrying ground bloom flowers with them. For bears, I guess? It was certainly unique.

@Ponypoor and others in similarly snowy places might be amused to hear that everyone is losing their minds here over maybe half a foot of the white stuff. We so rarely get proper snow that when we do, everything comes to a complete standstill.

I did imagine Orkney to be snowy and cold, but now I think about it, it's probably Coastal Weather, isn't it? aka wet and windy. Do you get freezing rain and slippery roads?
