Hello, new to chickens and our hens just started laying eggs this past week. Hours ago everyone was looking fine and now I have one laying down pretty lifeless. She is breathing and will object a little when I tried to give her water with a syringe. She looks very bad. Floppy. There has been mucus coming out of her mouth and when I found her she had the bedding stuck to it all over her face. I don't feel an obvious egg near her vent, but I'm so new to this I have no idea if an egg could be stuck. Ugh...it's Sunday of course and I live in a remote place far away from any type of emergency vet. I brought her inside with a fan and a/c since I thought maybe heat stroke, but nothing seems to improve. She looks so close to dead. Any suggestions? Thank you

Sounds like a crop issue, what's her diet and crop like?
they have free access to chicken feed I buy in our small town. Only option. They free range in the jungle all day. We give them a variety of fruits and veggies and gave them tuna fish yesterday. She may have gotten into a little bit of dog kibble. I am just googling crop issues and don't know what I am looking for here.

No obvious impaction or hardness in its crop. feels soft/doughy. no foul smell. could a crop issue get so dramatic so quick. it was acting fine a couple hours before. now it can't barely move. no drinking. just laying there lifeless and breathing. opens eyes every once in a while.

How old is she? What breed?

She just started laying eggs this week. Or we have 3 identical hens and get 2 eggs a day for about a week. Not sure who is laying when. Age is about 6 months. No idea what breed. We live in Mexico. All brown. She can't even move her head. Just laying there breathing. I am trying to give electrolytes with a syringe. I can't feel anything out of the ordinary. Gah. No possibility of a vet until mid day tomorrow and it will be a long car ride.

Hmm, I'm sorry. Theres so many things that it could be. Electrolytes is good, maybe it will keep her stabilized.
Is her comb pale, red or dark?

She died. I asked locals and their best guess is poisonous spiders they eat or scorpion. Sounds like I'm up against some big obstacles having chickens out here in the jungles of Mexico.
