Smoky was truly a beautiful lady and I know she will be deeply missed for a long time. Hope and Grace are such a luscious color; warmer than butter, maybe caramel? Just gorgeous---Not to mention their lovely fluffy butts! The entire group is very nice. I always enjoy your photos and updates. Thanks!

Funny story about one of my other Buff Orp girls from today, the famous Nugget, super mom:

Nugget is mothering a lone Delaware chick that she hatched right now. He's two weeks old. Today, she charged after a squirrel with murder in her eye when it dared pass close to her baby. She ran it up a tree, screaming curses at it, then called for the chick, who had hit the dirt by Suede's pen, and the baby zoomed to mama. Poor Zane, my crippled rooster, was sunning on the ground and the squirrel ran right under his beak, startled the heck out of him, LOL. Once Nugget was sure that nasty rodent was long gone, she and the baby went back to dustbathing. She's the best mom. I wonder if Hope and Gracie will go broody. They are from the same lines as Nugget.
