Sugar gliders

They are not easy to care for, speacially if you only have 1...you would need ample amount of play time daily (I'm talking about 2 to 3 hrs you and the glider). There is a mix you can make for their food and freeze it. They also need a "staple food" that you can usually find online. This is a dry food that they need avialable at all times. In addition, males, non fixed, are STINKY!!! ver, very stinky! They also need suplements such as Red-call, bird vitimins....

There are several mixes of food you can make...I like to make this one:

1/2 cup Honey
1 Egg (with shell)
1/4 cup of Apple Juice (real jiuce, no concentrate, frozen, etc, etc)
1 Teaspoon of Rep-Cal Calcium
2 2 1/2 oz jar of Stage 1 or 2 Heinz, Gerber or Beechnut Chicken baby food (or turkey)
1/4 cup Wheat Germ
1/2 cup dry baby cereal
and drop full of bird vitimins

Blend well , turn off blender, It should be the pour into tupperware bowl, or ice cube trays and FREEZE

Do NOT mix the fruits and veggies in before freezing.
There are several ways to feed the BML plan. The one thing that is consistant, is that, it is designed to be fed with fruits, veggies, and insects.
The rule of thumb per glider is..
1 Tablespoon of the BML basic mix,
1 Tablespoon of fruits,
1 Tablespoon of veggies
Insects
If they eat it all the first night add a little more the next night till they leave only a little bit.

Best of luck.....you can go to my home page to see pics of mine suggies...

I will be using news papers, and the cage is very tall that im getting with them, its about 5 and a half feet tall.
This glider has never had a friend glider, only people friends.
I havee been doing my research, and have also heard what they sound like.

The glider I am getting has never made "crabbing" noises, but does bark.
It is a female, and she doesnt really smell at all, that I can tell.

We are going to have her in a side room, Also known as a mudroom, There is not much foot traffic in there ever, and the only lighting comes from the hallway, and the door, but the windown on the door is ovular and not too much light gets in.

Females hardly smell. The males smell is due to the hormones...so you should be set there...just keep it clean (I had 2 males...oops!

)...make sure got get the wheels for her to run on with the nail trimming kit on it (sand paper with rubber on top) if not her nails will gro very long and sharp and....OUCH, it does hurt when thry try to grab on you...

Enjoy her....add pics if you can....make sure she get's plenty of attention. Some glider self mutilate if not "estimulated" enough....they are the EMO/cutters of the animal world! hahaha

side note given shell be in the mud room, gliders do NOT do well with drafts and do not do well in the cold! make sure shes draft free and if the room is unheated you may have to invest in a good heat lamp for her!

Its called a mudroom, but really its just a side room. There is a door that goes outside, but we never use that room for anything really, dont even use the outside door. Its off the hallway, and has no door( from the hallway into it.), so it will be nice and warm, we use a woodstove during the winter. The house usually stays at least about 75 degrees.
