@Pyxis

I know this is a long shot and if you don't have time/don't want to it won't hurt my feelings 🙃

I'm new to call ducks, added a couple this summer - All 3 ended up female (hooray) but I want duckletts in the spring so I'm going to add a drake and hen pair from a local breeder. These are just pets, I'm looking for variety in color (as much as I can). I've been reading/working over your duck genetic post but would love your opinion.

I have 1 black/white magpie, 2 blue bibbed females.
I can add either a white or penciled female &
I can add a A. pastel drake that carries buff, B. Blue fawn, C. Penciled or D. Porcelain (pastel with dusky factor)

I'm so torn on which to get 😭 Any advice is much appreciated 🙏
I can post photos if needed.

I'm not Pyxis, but hopefully this will help a bit.

Magpie is dominant, so any of her babies will have that pattern.
Blue is semi-dominant as well as if you have two copies of it you get a silver (or equivalent) but the two blues you have probably also carry black.

For the potential additional female, white will not carry through as it's recessive. Unsure how the pencilled gene would work. I won't include these two in my summary.

If you add a pastel, that's equivalent to blue (I think) so with those females you would have a chance at black, blue, and silver. Any female offspring may also be buff.

For the blue fawn, same as above but the females will also be fawn for sure since that gene will be transferred over.

Pencilled, I believe, you will only get blacks and blues (unless you get the pencilled female).

Unsure about the porcelain.

If it were up to me, I would chose the pencilled hen and the porcelain drake (because I love gambling with colours!).

I really appreciate that! I'm new to calls, I enjoy genetics but haven't had the time or brain power to really sit down and figure out. It's so much to consider! 🙃
But thank you, I've been torn between the pastel and the porcelain. The pastel is almost show quality 👀 not that I'm looking to show
