Sulmet Questions ?

So I have 2 things happening in my flock , Cocci .. I just had one die yesterday . And Respiratory crap, sneezy runny noses , bubbly eyes . In the summer when they had the respiratory stuff , I bought a gallon of Sulmet thinking it was Coryza ... I still not 100% sure it was not [ stinky eye goo ] . BUT the Sulmet did not help then , Oxytetracycline did . So should I go ahead and give them a dose of Sulmet for 5 days like the bottle says , knowing that Cocci will kill way faster than respiratory illness [I have not lost one girl to the sneezes ] ... OR can I give them either Sulmet or Corid for the Cocci AND Oxytetracycline for the sneezes? Also how long after each medicine can we start to eat the eggs , as they were not laying last time they were sick .What is the standard # of days for Corid treatment if I decide to go that route ?

if it were me, I'd opt for the Corid and Tylan 50 injectable..
I've never mixed 2 meds in water, tho I've heard of people who do..and add a little cranberry juice to attract to them to it and partly disgiuise the taste.
if they won't drink the water, they won't get the med..


There is a sticky at the top of the page with med dose info..
I have used Corid for 5 - 7 days..it was a powder (Corid 20% amprolium soluble for bovine cocci)..(1 teaspoon per gallon of water)
others might have different dose time for different formulas..

I would allow 2 weeks for an antibiotic..others may have different opinion..
(Sulmet is withdrawn 10 days before slaughter of cattle..Corid has a 1 day time withdrawal for slaughter)

you can hard boil the eggs and give back to the chickens later..not while being treated for cocci...cocci thrives on protein and certain other vitamins and nutrients..
