Give the rest another 3-4 days in case you have any late hatchers also! I've had two that hatched late.

Mine don't want to be held. They were a bit flighty as chicks but settled down as they grew. They are very laid back now and would still be low bird on the pecking order if in a mixed flock. They are not a "pet" breed in my opinion....but that also makes them easier to be a meatie yummy tasty bird if you know what I mean. :-0

Laying out of the box seems to be common in young pullets of any breed. I went outside to collect eggs and found Java eggs on the ground in front of the coop door...just couldn't make it in time. Same is true for Sulmtaler...just in front of the door. Another one of my young Javas lays in the feed dish.

Then there are the Dorkings and Marans who enjoy the bushes.

Young pullets. . . someone needs to teach them where the boxes are.

Congrats flypen and DCchicken! Is this day 20 for the eggs ?

Actually by my count it's day 21, they started in the bator Nov 15th or am I counting wrong? but looks like 8 hatched

Flypen is right. I just looked at my hatching chart. They were set 11/15.

Mine are taking forever to hatch. Only 5 so far and the last one I had to help hatch as the membrane became rubbery. Is that common with Sulmtalers?

Once mine started it only took a couple hours and 8 of them was out chirping. PM Miss Amy she is awesome help

Update on how my Sulmtalers are laying since I moved.... Moved them Nov 27th loaded them up and drove 30 minutes to our new farm. Moved them to a different coop Dec 5th here on the farm. They don't care! Laying just like nothing ever happened. They never missed a day of laying. I'm still getting 3-4 eggs a week per hen. Oh and the weather has been awful also, cold (for Alabama anyways lol) rainy, foggy, dark and dreary. And I do NOT use supplemental lighting either. They are getting only about 10 hours of daylight now. My barnevelders and cream legbars have not laid one single egg since October.
