The only difference is the black tail and wing feathers are a grayish blue color

I have noticed some of my hens have a very distinct blue underfluff (down) under their wheaten outter feathers...does anyone know if this is the norm, a breed requirement characteristic, or is it just a 'blue wheaten' hen ?

And this cockerel, having a green & gold duckwing pattern I was told was a Silver Duckwing, while others are calling it a Silver Wheaten.
I noticed others' males on this forum which did not have any gold, were Silvers, and also had a duckwing pattern, so I'd call those a silver duckwing, and mine is a Silver Wheaten Duckwing ??? Anyone want to add or comment (please ?)

That's Gold Duckwing... Silver Duckwing wouldn't have the rust colored patch in the wing bow...

the 3 pullets you have in this picture are not the blue wheatens, if you have a blue wheaten all the black in the tail would be a grey color, no black tips. I bred a pair of blue wheatens last year and raised some blue splash from them. I had called them Pyle blues, but was corrected later.

One is a Silver Wheaten, one is a gold, as far as I have been told...any other inputs ?
My interpretation is one is silver, the other gold, and since males carry 3 genes, each carries his own color except for pure white, which happens in this breed.
OK, need more input & thanks for everyone's discussion !
From this line I have gotten a Silver Wheaten (which I call a porcelian) and pure white...awesome breed !!!

have any photos of these pullets ? I would love to see the difference, especially in under fluff, if you have record of that

He is Wheaten... if the colors were bred together you will get GDW and Wheaten...

I just hatched 14 of these today and 12 Alsterier. I can't wait to see how they color. I bought my eggs from CluckandCrow on eBay and had an 80% hatch. I already have 2 GDW Cockrels and 1 pullet.
