Sultan Rooster attack

He has gotten better about it. I just haven't been home as much lately. When I do get home I met them free range for a couple of hours, but I do hold him a lot and walk around with him more often now. He's gotten a whole lot better. On some occasions he tries to get me, but I just run him off. He has no spurs on him. Here is picture of him.

his favorite hen is in the corner of the picture. He really starts to act up when I pick her up.

I have actually picked my rooster up, held the back of his head so he couldn't peck me, and held him
till he stopped struggling. He has a really healthy respect for me now, and gives me a wide berth when
I am in the run area. I did this at night when he was on the roost so I wouldn't have to try to chase him
down.

Yeah he sure does. I believe he is the reason why she won't go broody. Is that a possibility?
Maybe. There's not too much of a connection, but ect. ect. If I say some vague innuendo, I'll get time out from the "managers" of the site. I was blocked for four days. Just goes to show, etc. ect. Sorry I can't answer you better.

He'd have been stew at my house already.

If he's that young, you MIGHT be able to stop this behavior, so give it a try. If he comes up behind you to attack you, kick him. HARD. Chase him around squawking just like a rooster would chase a junior rooster. Catch him. Pin him to the ground. Hold him upside down. If he fluffs up his neck feathers and stands erect when he looks at you, grab him and pin him to the ground. Don't let him mate any birds in front of you--kick him off. Remember that those are YOUR hens and YOU are the top rooster. Treat him like a subordinate, always.

If he keeps attacking, time to make coq au vin.

This makes total sense just like with a dog his mother would pin him to put him in check. Think this would work with an evil hen or is there another method for hens.
Really loved this suggestion because you are redirecting him with something that he understands. My now not with us roo would attack me the last time I chucked my shoes at him and I was bent down as I picked up the shoes to chuck again yelling at him, he may have thought I lost my mind but he never attacked again and stayed completely away.

I had to do that today. It worked, but I don't know how long this will go on. In hope he will stop.

Oh, that works with hens, too. It's easier with hens, because most of them don't have that drive to be at the tippy top of the pecking order. Just make sure that YOU are always the tippy top of the pecking order and you'll be fine.
