We just did our first incubator hatch and have had a little surprise.....after buying 6 sumatra bantam eggs from ebay, only 1 candled as developing on 15th day so we were hopeful that it would hatch...it did...but its not a sumatra!!(i don't think) it is very pale in colour and has very long legs so we contacted the seller with pics to see what he thought......he was as confused as us!!
He was very helpful and offered 6 new sumatra eggs

and when we asked what it may be, he said the other breeds he keeps are cochins, japanese and...large shamo, which he believes this chick to be! what a surprise this was!

Currently it is with a mini silkie chick the same age-what a strange duo...
Our only query is the size of the chick, although bigger than the silkie, it's still small-does anyone have any experience with shamos or can shed any light? Also, will it be ok with the little silkie as i've heard they're aggressive straight from hatching?
thanks
