I know Boggybottoms on here has been working on the brown red in the bantams, and seems to be coming along. Thanks for the information Fowlman01.

The duns do bleach out easier than the blues it seems. Normally by the end of summer before the hens molt, they are the color of dry grass which is pretty to me. Then they start getting in all the chocolate colored feathers. The khaki rooster is starting to get new feathers in now so he looks like a splash almost. That is the one thing I prefer about the duns to blues is that khaki is almost always a uniform color unlike splash which always varies quite a bit. Another thing keeping them from being excepted is the fact that so few people have them. Other than us, there is another breeder here working with duns but his are more game bred. Then Aubrey is working with them and I can't really think of anyone else that has duns off the top of my head that is really breeding them. We always have such a long waiting list for them because they're so rare still. Some day they will be as popular as the blues I hopeQuote:
FMP.......is this a common thing with the Khakis? Does this also occur
with the duns, blues, splashes? maybe it is a reason for it taking so
much for them to be accepted to the show ring? just some thoughts
The blues can be pretty if they have good lacing and enough color but I'mThe duns do bleach out easier than the blues it seems. Wow, I thought I had alot of projects going at once! You stay very busy. I have never heard of the "sun" color before, could you tell me what this looks like? And yes, I would love to follow the progress of all these colors, as alot sound like they would be very pretty on the sumatras. I take it that all will be bantams of course and are all these colors in just the sumatras or are some in other breeds as well?Ramirez
I have several coming along on the brown red birchens. There is only 1 hen that has any white to the lobes so that's a non issue. White lobe is dominate over reds so it is a pain to get rid of to start with but James had then in pretty good shape. Yes I did go brown red to black or blue this year to add more Sumatra blood back and help correct the minor issues left in the project . Of course these are just blacks again so next year will be an off year on type and just be used to get the color back.
Other color wise that I am working on
White , lavender, lemon blue , bb red, barred, crele, silver and gold duck wing and of course sun and the sport versions. Most of these I just started this year so it'll be a few before I have Anything to really show from it... but I love em and love variety so why not haha...don't care if people like em or not lol.... will keep you posted on the progress. Hopefully in 3-4 more years I'll have a lot colors getting really close
Haha that's this phone trying think for me. Should be dun .
Yes all bantam
And God thats just the tip. I do less with Sumatra than any of my other breeds. Phoenix , ohiki , and danver. I've built danvers to about 40 colors now. Pretty close on the other 2 also so figured I might as well do up the Sumatra too while I was at it haha
I'm taking the colors from a lot of these too foe the sumatra. A ohiki x phoenix bird seems to be going really well with sumatra type too. And I get a lot of need lobed birds in those to use on Sumatra too. Them I have a lot of fibro melanistic birds too. Been wanting to add that into the Sumatra too just to see the look. All in all I hatch 7000 to 12000 project birds a year on average.
