Sumatra Thread!

Our bantams are super friendly. When we were younger, we would ride our bikes to town and my sister would bring her pair of bantam sumatras (Raven & Crow); they would sit on her handle bars or in the basket the whole ride. Even now, the trio we have in the breeder shed are more friendly than any of the other birds and they have never really been handled other than when we sort birds

Those of you who have bantam Sumatras, how are their personalities? Are they super flighty?

I'm considering getting into bantams, and I'm trying to decide on a breed, I really enjoyed my LF Sumatra... why not minis? :)
sebrights are one of my favorites and nice looking too I have a hen that steps up onto my finger and rides around with me and loves to be rubbed I'm breeding her to a polish lol

Championsumatra, they are my lines, but I originally started with ones from Bill Mayer over 20 years ago. I have had a few side projects to work on minor/major faults that are on my own birds since I haven't been working on them in a long time. I introduced birds from Tom Kernan, Barbara Tuss, Barbara Bullock, Tim Jurgen, and even some from backyard breeders where I saw potential. I will never show birds directly from these projects though. Everyone has their own interpretation of the standard and that's what I strive for, my own. Sometimes judges like it those birds, and sometimes not so much. Its fun!

Wow that is great! I have always wanted to find a sumatra in someones backyard with a lot of potential. It sounds like you have a lot of sumatras in your area. I think it's great that you are mixing a lot of lines together. I want to do that myself. I don't believe in inbreeding it ruins the health of your flock. You should post some pics on here I would love to see your sumatras! :D
