Sumatra Thread!

Pics
I shipped out some bantam black/blue eggs to Cloverleaf today, spreading the sumatra addiction is always nice.

Jeremy, the dun hen has only laid twice this week so no eggs this week, hopefully this coming week I'll be able to ship some out to you!

I am hoping to get some LF Sumatra eggs soon.

Today I turned all the sumatras out since we needed their pens. The dun rooster is obviously dominant which is a good thing. They are much more happy now that they are loose, the type is much better, they are out scratching around and loving it

Ours were as well, they went into breeding pens in January since we have other breeds running around. Now with birds coming in the mail and lots of other birds to be moved from winter pens to their normal pens, we needed the space so what other birds to turn out that will do amazing than the sumatras. They are loving it, dusting and running around, squawking at every little thing that spooks them, it is great. I'll try to post some pics of them later today

So does this mean you won't be able to ship Dun eggs?

No pictures from them free ranging, they were all over the place. But I have some from yesterday morning, a picture of each of the groups. The only thing I don't like about the new black cockerel after watching them, is his eye set. The location of his eyes seems lower/further back so it gives him a funny and dorky look on his face instead of he wise look that the others have.

Not this week since they have been poor layers. This coming week I plan to put the black cockerel in the bachelor pad so the dun has free run with the 5 hens. I found 2 sumatra eggs in the coop this afternoon, one from the dun pen and one from the black. By having just Coco Diablo (dun cockerel) with the hens, there will be the 50% chance of dun atleast and a small chance of khaki.
