this is the black faced white sumatra i was talkin aboot.....
please keep me posted if you manage to get them here from across the pond! i wonder if my buddy in germany can bring some over when they PCS back to the states?!?!? how much do you think it will run a civilian to import their own "pets" back to the states?
we talked about that one a lot on the FB page and privately, me and other breeders that is. You can tell by the tail type on it that is is a phoenix cross, with a fibro ,pea comb breed. So most likely sumatra phoenix. It's not pure either by any means. The UK has the most whites that I know of, and the most reformed ones.

On the imports of personal pets, it cost a lot but not as bad as poultry. They dont classify poultry as pets when it comes to bringing them over. An average egg import will cost you between $2000- $5000 by the time it's all over. And that's just for a 21 day permit. After that you have to do it all over again if you get more later on. Test on the entire breeders flock, their export permits, air cargo, import permits here, broker fees , etc etc. It doesnt take long. On actual birds it's even worse, all the same, plus a very expensive 30 day quarrentine in a USDA facility, think it's $15 a day per bird. It has to be 30 consecutive days with no signs of illness. If it sneezes, the clock starts over....

Only way I'm able to do it is I have a couple friends that have the permits and are just going to add on some eggs to their orders for me..

it was in the sumatra and satsumadori page on the book of FACE! lol
there is a metric crap ton of eye candy on that page! but there is also a few douche bag spammers on there too! apperently some think us chicken folk dont exersize enuff! hey i can pass a pt test! i think.... its been a while OK!!! lol

I doubt it. There's only a few places that are allowed to do it. One for use here on the east coast is in Miami, that's another part of it, YOU have to go to the pick up at the airport, then again to the facility after they are ready, doesnt matter how far away it is... You could certainly check into it though. Never hurts to ask. The bording isnt the big part, well it's $450 per birds for the month, but the big issue with the birds coming in or eggs for that matter is you have to pay for every test known to man to be done to all the sellers flock by a certified vet for exportation . The actual US import permit, and the Forgein export permit, as well as the air fair in certified bio sealed containers. The broker meets the jet and instantly takes them in a way you'd think they had some air born human killing disease. oh you have to pay them too for all their driving, and time.. so in the long run, the $450 isnt too bad haha.
But still you could check into it and see. Main thing is it must be located very close to an international airport too.

You use to could do this stuff easy. But once the avian influenza thing scared everyone back in the early 2000's the USDA put a stop to it all . Sure glad I got friends who can do it... I'd say about 60% of all my birds here came from over seas. But Lord knows I'd never be able to afford it on my own

Kinda makes you see why when you see IMPORTED stock infront of a breed, the price is sky high.
