Sumatra Thread!

Hi, Guys and girls, how are you all?
I finished my coop and run.





Thats my brown red sumatra project cockerel in the run







The Sussex having done some growing









Roy the rir is now bigger than the sussex

and the broody.

Those sumatras are gamey looking, the bird i had called sid was very gamey looking.
 
I lost two hens I brought from that project i only have one surviver a molted rooster
A friend from San Antonio kept most of my crosses but I'm not gonna be able to have some of those until I take a road trip or I get some eggs shipped from him

If you are breeding to the standard it dose not say pheasant like it will say that if it where true. If you read the standard more carefully and not read what is on the internet. You will see what I am talking about. Sumatra's where admitted to the standard in 1883 that was over a hundred years ago you can't expect things not to change a little bit over time.. we have written a lot of standards sense them...:idunno  that is just the way our culture is we change things so much over time. 
I wasn't breeding to the standard They are pretty but
I wanted to have a line more similar to German Sumatra .
 
that is fine. I am sorry I thought you where breeding to the standard. I was talking mostly to the people who say or want to be breeding to the standard but breed for all those things that are not written in the standard. (Game like or phesent like)

Boggy, how is it going with your project? Have you gotten eggs or chicks yet? How long do you think it will take to get all of the white out of the earlobes? Are you taking the new hens to one of your roosters and vice versa with the new rooster? Hope its going well for you with the project.
