Sumatra Thread!

I am back! I got a very nice black male from James Smith at the show. My birds did well considering they had half there feathers not grown in, I am very shocked and happy this girl who I sold a sumatra to last year won the AOSB class. I did not win anything but I had fun with all my friends. It just shows you that you can't win every time. I asked the judge what he thought of all my bird and he said he really liked them. I sold two birds a splash cockerel and a splash pullet. My birds will be ready in January.

My grandpa said he brought a pair of German Sumatra hens for £54 he sounded quite happy with them. I'm very pleased with my young Sumatra hen, she has a nice temperament,I was holding her on my lap and she felt quite comfortable and sat down she is nice. This weekend I'm going to finish my coop and run off, I started it on Sunday. Who here is on Facebook?
Happy thanksgiving.

Sounds like you have a nice hen and are enjoying her. There is nothing
as good feeling as building things yourself and a job well done.......
hope you have a good weekend.

Good luck with your coop building, I myself will have to do some more of this within the next few months. Happy to hear that your grandpa found some hens that he is happy with. How are your youngsters doing now? How did the art expo go?

Thanks, I love doing a bit of building it is fun and the end product often looks good and is good to have. Now I just need to get him to send a picture of his birds. My youngsters aren't to bad, they are happy free ranging at this point in time, how are all your birds?

The expedition isn't over yet I'll be picking up my drawings or any money I have made from buyers tomorrow.

My older birds are looking better but haven't finished regrowing feathers, the teens are shaping up nicely and I still have to catch the last few youngsters and put them in a pen. But I am pretty sure I managed to break the broody this time. I'll give the cold temps the credit to that one, as I have never been able to break her before without giving her eggs, which I would have done this time but I have a feeling that we're in for a nasty winter and I don't want/ need that worry.
