I didn't realize that wildfires are that common in Washington. I always pictured it lush green or bottom deep in snow

. Guess I'll have to read up on it some.
Yep, it is part of the natural cycle here in the west. Fires would normally burn through everything and renew it all. Burns out all the old undergrowth and dead grass/brush to start again. Some seeds even grow best after a fire has been through. A good example of our weather up here is that during the winter, it was around -30 with strong wind and snow coming down, we only got about a foot that day but we'll get snow storms that will completely hide the pasture fences. At the beginning of the week, we were about 100 for a few days with basically no moisture in the air. Now the smoke from the fires in the central part of the state is so thick here that I can't see the mountains that are a mile or two from the barns at work.
Lots of people think that the coasties on the wet side of the cascades in Oregon and Washington should just form their own state. As Trident said, the climate is way different.

Thank you Ramirezframing. She is a cutie. Her identical twin sister does not share the same liking for chickens as she does. Got to work on that

Same problem in CA.

I really wish the insane where not in charge of CA.

We have a desalination plant that has never been allowed to operate in CA due to regulations and environmental red tape.

My area has saved so much water our rates keep going up because we are conserving too much and the water districts are loosing money, meanwhile the state is threatening us with fines for water waste? Government logic, these people really do not understand resource management or supply and demand economics... they just understand threatening people and punishing us for doing as they ask. The communities sucking the state dry are the ones waisting water, their use keeps going up while they tell to the rest of the state to save water.

People who do not understand about fire will block fire breaks being created or underbrush cleared. Thus the yearly fires in CA that are really bad instead of a little bad.

They stop disease control efforts, & they want green energy as long as the ugly turbines or solar panels are not on their houses, hills or bays.

Certain Cities have full lakes because I quote "we need recreation" while our lakes are empty (they took our water) and farms above & down stream from said cities get no water and are dust bowls.

The good of the smug few out ways the needs of the many in the state of CA, and to add insult to injury it is people from the areas getting the water that lecture the rest of the state about saving the environment.

Powerful few are killing CA, and sadly they are too stupid to figure out that if the rest of the state can't survive they will eventually be in the same boat.

Come on El Nino... oh wait the crazy think El Nino is bad because the natural weather pattern that brings rain to CA, is linked to ocean water temperature and that is "global warming".

At the moment I don't have any plans for her. I haven't gotten all the materials to build separate pens just yet, so she's mixed in with the rest of the flock. She's not good quality, so there's probably not much I can do with her.

You can enjoy her and her lovely eggs

and if you decide later down the road to get better birds, she can still stay in your egg flock. She might even go broody for you.
